In December 2014, realization of the German Language project “Production of professional language learning tools and their use in education in the field of tourism” was launched with the financial support of the European Union within the program Erasmus+ and ended in October 2017. The project was approved by the SAAIC National Agency as the only language project within KA2 “Strategic Partnerships in Higher Education”. The main product of the project is an online German language course in the field of tourism with the B1 – B2 entry level of the Common European Language Framework. This blended-learning modularly structured course is implemented on a moodle learning portal and supported by Web 2.0 tools. Its aim is to deepen foreign language communication for target groups such as academics and researchers, students, multipliers, but also regular travellers, etc. Other online project products include a 5-language glossary, audio-visual and animation exercises to support simulation teaching methods. Based on the language curriculum developed within the project, the course focuses on three aspects – medicine, safety and the environment, which stem from current tourism trends and are not yet sufficiently or even elaborated in language teaching materials. This way, the course filled the need to develop new language learning materials.
The final part of the project was a 2-week pilot intensive course in Germany for the target groups of (individual) partner countries. Based on their entrance language test, five candidates were selected from each partner institution. Several project meetings, workshops, conferences and the final international valorisation symposium were held within the project.
